Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, has won the U.S. presidential election, securing his return to the White House after surpassing the required 270 electoral college votes.

In a historic comeback, Trump flipped several traditionally Democratic states and emerged victorious in key battlegrounds, reinforcing his appeal among voters in critical areas. This win makes Trump the 47th president of the United States, following his first term as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.

“Every day, I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America,” Trump affirmed.

He pledged to address pressing national issues, including border management, economic growth, and public safety.

“We are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re gonna fix our borders, we’re gonna fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight,” he concluded.

Trump’s campaign centered on themes of immigration, border security, and economic revitalization, areas in which he frequently criticized the Democratic Party as “weak.”

Republicans say Trump won the election for one simple reason. Voters felt that they were better off four years ago than they were today.

The results were a blow not only to Vice President Harris, but also to the legacy of President Biden whose administration struggled with border challenges, high inflation and increasing uncertainty around the world.
